KMPD has had many awesome opportunities to work with great companies of all industries. This week, we are highlighting project work done for one of our favorite clients, Reliant Energy, an NRG company. This was a great group to work with. Each person had their own unique and colorful personality that seemed to seep through each photo. It is easy to see why Reliant has selected them as the forefront for working with their customers!

KMPD has had the super cool opportunity to do a product shoot for Uncle Funky’s Daughter!

Uncle Funky’s Daughter is a nationally recognized natural hair salon whose awesome products have been featured everywhere including ESSENCE and Ebony Magazine. I remember when I first noticed UFD’s products in college. As a graphic designer, I was very intrigued by the earthy yet urban-funk of the branding labels. The color and textures we’re dead on. Never did I ever imagine I would have the opportunity to actually shoot the products I once adored.

The word FUN, does not begin to describe this shoot. I’m starting to realize: Challenging > Nervous > Excitement > FUN! The challenging part was the lighting (of course) and controlling the white balance since the client desired a white background.  The client also requested reflection on the bottom of each product. Yes, this could have been easily accomplished in photoshop, but I was going for a more authentic look. So what did I use? Good old plexiglass from your local craft store. Overall, I was very pleased with the outcome and I am looking forward to working with Uncle Funky’s Daughter again! KMPD already has some up coming projects schedules with them, so stay tuned!

Aside from my own parents, never have I been in the presence of such simple natural love! It feels as if It is almost non existent in today’s fast-pace world. Benjamin Floyd of Floyd & Associates and Tamara Floyd, founder of Natural Hair Rules!!! join forces to create a (baby of course) simple yet natural and loving maternity session. No instructions need! As a photographer, I usually have to position the subject and also help them to ‘bring out their best’. This was not the case for the Floyds. My job was simple:  hush and shoot : )  I’m so excited for the arrival of Baby Ben II! I know the Floyd’s will make great first time parents. Check out a couple of photos from the session!
